Derek was born and raised in West Michigan and started his career in the insurance industry shortly after he graduated from Central Michigan University. During his time there, he studied Marketing: Professional Sales Concentration. Derek is a high school graduate of Reeths-Puffer where he spent most of his time playing hockey. He thoroughly enjoys fishing and spending his time with family and friends.
